The Socceroos will play two of their three 2026 FIFA World Cup games in the US with one opponent yet to be confirmed.
Australia was grouped in Group D alongside USA, Paraguay and either Turkiye, Romania, Slovakia or Kosovo when the draw was recently held in Washington DC.
The final opponents will be confirmed on 2pm (Sunday morning AEST) when the winner of the UEFA play-off C group is determined.
Australia plays that unnamed side on June 13 in Vancouver then travels to Seattle to take on USA on June 19, 2026, and the final group game in San Francisco against Paraguay on June 25.
SOCCEROOS COACH
Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic says “we have been preparing for many months but now we can plan with certainty, knowing our match schedule and kick-off times for the World Cup 2026”.
“We will have a tough group regardless of who qualifies from UEFA, but we will go in with a lot of optimism and confidence,” he told Football Australia’s website, footballaustralia.com.au.
“We know many Australian fans are planning on travelling, and we look forward to having strong support from them.”
US President Donald Trump is currently threatening to move games away from Seattle (among other cities), a Democratic-run city in a Democratic state. FIFA has already pushed back against the proposal.
Fans from some countries may not be able to enter the US after the Trump administration announced it will expand a ban on visitors from up to 30 countries: click here for the Reuters report on that.
The games will be broadcast on SBS and SBS Demand.
