Three more weeks to have your say
The NSW Government has extended the public exhibition period for its detailed Woollahra rezoning proposal, which takes in Woollahra and Edgecliff and could deliver up to 9,400 new homes. The Minister for Planning and Public Spaces said the extra three weeks follows considerable community interest. Residents now have until 5pm on Friday, 30 October 2026, to lodge submissions through the NSW Planning Portal. The extension gives the community more time to review the plan and provide feedback.
What the Woollahra rezoning would change
- Building heights: Varied building heights of up to 34 storeys are proposed around Edgecliff Station, and up to 32 storeys around Woollahra Station.
- Parks and active transport: The plan includes 7 new parks and up to 9 kilometres of new walking and cycling connections.
- Housing mix: The proposal requires a diversity of new homes, including studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
- Affordable housing: A 3 percent affordable housing contribution is included, with up to 15 percent applied to certain sites in perpetuity.
- Local centres: An expanded mixed-use Edgecliff Centre and a new Woollahra local centre are proposed, which the Government says would deliver around 1,000 new local jobs, along with services and amenities.
One of 74 rezonings across NSW
Woollahra is one of 74 state-led rezonings under way across NSW. According to the NSW Government, together they could unlock approximately 257,000 new homes and 236,000 jobs. NewsCop has also reported on plans for high-rise apartment buildings around Burwood’s Metro station and on NSW Government funding for the Parramatta North rezoning.
