Subaru is recalling almost 80,000 cars in Australia due to a manufacturing issue with their electronic brakes.
There is a total of 78,617 cars across a range of models made between 2015 and 2019 that have been affected.
Liberty sedans, Outback wagons, Levorg wagons, and WRX sedans made between 2015 and 2018 are affected.
There is also the Impreza models and XV models that have been made between 2017 and 2019.
The manufacturing issue concerns the Electronic Park Brake adaptor cord connector, and may cause cars to move or roll away while they are parked.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the Electronic Park Brake (EPB) adaptor cord connector may not operate as intended,” said the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications.
“This could result in the vehicle moving or rolling away whilst the vehicle is engaged in the park position.
“If the vehicle moves from its parked position while unattended, it may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
Anyone that owns these models can book their vehicles in for a free repair at any authorised Subaru Service Centre Australia-wide.
Affected owners will also be contacted in writing by Subaru Australia to request that they make an appointment in order to have the vehicle repaired.
