The body of missing Gold Coast woman Wendy Sleeman was found in the boot of a car in Brisbane’s North.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, Queensland Police say it is believed to be Ms Sleeman’s body.
Ms Sleeman, 61, went missing Tuesday after she contacted police.
Her son Slade Murdok, 30, was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple offences.
His charges include kidnapping.
The car was found in a rented garage at Windsor, on Thondley Street.
It is believed that the car had been at that location since Tuesday afternoon.
Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said the discovery was “devastating”, and police believe Mr Mudok was responsible, having hired the garage privately.
“This is a devastating outcome for her loved ones and our thoughts remain with them.” Superintendent Smith said.
“There is no formal relationship [with the garage owner] here.
“Investigators have told me that [the owner] is quite shocked.
“It is not something that you expect.
“Just because we have located the car, we are still very keen to hear from people who have seen it because we want to track [its] movements right across the south-east.
“It is too early to say what the injuries are or the extent of the injuries.” He said, regarding Ms Sleeman’s cause of death.
The car is a blue Honda Jazz with the number plate 952AT4.
The South Eastern regional crime coordinator said the circumstance was “tragic”.
“It is a tragic scene and a tragic circumstance.” They said.
“It just goes to show that even the best families have problems, so as a community we need to rally and help each other.” They said.
The car was seen on Tuesday at Elanora, Logan Central, and Slacks Creek.
