All things Pasifika will be celebrated this Kings Birthday holiday weekend at the Pine Rivers Showgrounds in Moreton Bay.

The Pasifika Vibes festival will run this Sunday and Monday (October 4-5) and has been attracting more than 20,000 people.

Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery describes the festival as “a much-loved celebration” of the Pacific that began as a local community event at Deception Bay in 2011.

“As the festival continues to grow, so too does its impact, bringing more than 20,000 people together each year,” he says.

He says Moreton Bay council has given $17,300 to help ensure the festival keep growing.”

Councillor Jim Moloney says he is looking forward to attending the event again this year.

“This year’s festival will showcase some of the best traditional performances, cuisine and craftsmanship from Pasifika cultures,” he says.

“While council is proud to support the event, the real credit belongs to the volunteers and community members whose hard work and passion bring this festival to life each year.
