What the MyFWC portal will handle

The Fair Work Commission is broadening the scope of its MyFWC portal so that dismissal cases can be managed entirely through the web platform, from the moment a claim is lodged through to the final outcome. The Commission has confirmed that “all new dismissal cases will be managed through the portal” once the expansion goes live. It has also stated that “Existing dismissal cases will also move to MyFWC,” meaning the shift is not limited to fresh applications.

Who needs to use the MyFWC portal

The change applies to individuals and organisations with unfair dismissal claims or general protection dismissal claims before the Fair Work Commission. That includes both people lodging a new application and those whose matters are already in progress. The Fair Work Commission has indicated that the expanded MyFWC portal will initially cover dismissal cases only, with other case types to be added at a later date.

When MyFWC goes live for dismissal cases

The Fair Work Commission first said it expected to make the changes from mid-October 2026. In an update on 13 October 2026, it confirmed the expanded portal will be available from Monday 19 October 2026. MyFWC will be unavailable from 8pm AEDT on Friday 16 October until 8am AEDT on Monday 19 October while the changes are made.

What it means for dismissal cases

Once the expanded MyFWC portal is up and running, users will be able to view full case details and the contact information of all parties involved in a matter. They can also access and upload documents, review directions, decisions and orders, and follow the proceedings themselves. For existing dismissal cases, the Commission has said these will be transferred to the MyFWC platform, with one exception: matters that have already been placed with a particular Commission Member will remain on the current system rather than being moved across. This means most people with a dismissal claim will need to familiarise themselves with the online portal to keep track of their case going forward.
