WA waterwise rebates are now within reach of more regional communities than ever before. On 19 October 2026, the Western Australian Government announced that a record 115 localities have been selected for this year’s Waterwise Towns Program, run by Water Corporation.
What changed
Households in the chosen towns can now tap into rebates and tailored offers to cut their water use. The programme has helped save 2.8 billion litres since 2013, including 637 million litres last year alone. That’s roughly 70 million buckets’ worth. With this year’s expanded line-up, regional WA is on track to save enough water to fill Optus Stadium three times over.
What the WA waterwise rebates cover
Offers are tailored to each community, so they vary from town to town. Typically they include rebates on water-efficient toilets, free water-efficient showerheads and help with making garden irrigation more efficient.
South West utilities add their own offers
Customers of two South West utilities, Busselton Water and Aqwest – Bunbury Water, can also benefit. Both are running their own offers alongside the Water Corporation programme, and these are open to households, businesses and community groups.
Aqwest – Bunbury Water is introducing an irrigation service rebate and a weather-based irrigation controller rebate for eligible customers. It is also keeping its showerhead swap programme, rainwater tank rebate and dual-flush toilet rebates.
Busselton Water launched its Weather-based Irrigation Controller Rebate on Monday 19 October, during National Water Week. Customers can claim up to $300 towards the purchase, set-up and programming of eligible products.
Broader water investment
The rebates sit alongside a record $1.2 billion that the Cook Labor Government is investing in water projects in 2026–27. The money is aimed at strengthening water security and upgrading water and wastewater infrastructure across the state.
Water Minister Daniel Pastorelli called water efficiency “a shared responsibility for all Western Australians”. He pointed to a changing climate, lower rainfall and population growth as the pressures on the state’s supplies.
How to check you’re eligible
Offers and eligibility differ between providers and locations. Before applying for WA waterwise rebates, check with your own water utility: Water Corporation, Aqwest – Bunbury Water or Busselton Water.
