Sitting down with The Project’s Carrie Bickmore, the 34-year-old revealed that his brain cancer diagnosis is now terminal saying, “At some point it will get me, but I’m still fighting, still kicking on”.
He was originally diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2017 but went through two years of treatment to believe at the time he was all-clear, however in 2020, doctors told him that his cancer had returned.
Despite his diagnosis, he said that he’s lived longer than previously expected.
“Looking up my diagnosis and my tumour, the average life expectancy was three years. And for me it’s now been five years. I’m already winning. My goal now is to try and help as many people as I can and also live a happy life.”
Although the singer admitted that he often feels fatigued and that sometimes he can forget his words.
While he continues his fight, Ruffo did say that it’s hard to think how this is impacting his girlfriend Tahnee Sims.
“What plays in my head a lot is, I hate to say this, how hard it may be for her if something does happen to me.
“It gets me a little bit emotional, because I know at some point something will happen, whether it’s a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years.”
Earlier in the week Ruffo released his book entitled “No Finish Line” which describes his battle with cancer and the hardships he’s had to endure through his life.
