A Brisbane mum has defended her family from intruders by using bug spray that by chance turned into a flamethrower.
21-year-old Tiffany Kendon was at home with her partner and children when three men entered the home around 9:45pm on Tuesday.
The situation developed after the men were in a car crash on Monday night near Tiffany’s house.
During the incident they dumped a semiautomatic pistol in bushes and were led to believe that Tiffany had found it, kept it and reported the missing gun to police.

One of the men had gone to her house demanding she turn over the gun but Tiffany denied having any involvement, however he was not convinced and returned the next day with two other people.
“They came in the front door and the back door, three of them, all in their 20s,” Tiffany said.
“They were yelling at us, ‘give us our gun back, we know you have it, where’s our f***ing gun’.”
They were armed with a knife, taser and baton and began to threaten Tiffany and her family while she was on the phone to police. She warned them to leave the house.
“He took one step towards my bedroom and I was just like, ‘No … I do not appreciate that, I’ve got two children in here and you need to get the f*** out of my house’,” she said.
“The main guy came upstairs with a taser and I was like, ‘get the f— out, I have a newborn, get out of my house’.”
Tiffany was unsure of what to do but quickly noticed a can of bug spray close by.
“I sprayed him in the eyes and he clicked the taser at the same time and it went up in flames,” she said.
“I then had a 1.5m flame on me and pushed him down the stairs.”
The mum of two said that one of them now has “ a really burnt face” but that she is “pretty traumatised from it all”.
Police say that all three men fled the scene but have not yet been found and arrested.
