A 12-year-old Brisbane boy has been left seriously injured after being hit by a car while he was riding his bike in South Brisbane.
Police say they were conducting registration checks on cars in the suburb of Macgregor when they saw an unregistered Holden Commodore go past them at 12:05pm.
They initiated their lights and began to drive towards the unregistered car, however the Commodore sped up and went through a red light at an intersection where the 12-year-old boy was crossing.
He was struck and reportedly flown about 10 metres in the air, suffering a head injury and was later taken to the Queensland Childrens Hospital with multiple fractures.

Police say he is now in a stable condition.
The driver and passenger of the Green Commodore fled the scene with their whereabouts still unknown by police who describe the driver as being in his 20s.
The incident was captured on camera with a witness seen taking off their shoes and running after the pair who fled the scene.
A witness described the incident to the Courier Mail.
“Seen the whole thing right in front of us,” a witness said.
“Two young blokes, P-platers, ran a red light as this kid, his little brother and dad were crossing the road.
“The boy flew through the air when hit from the crossing to literally near the massive sign there next to the bubble tea place … that’s like a solid 10 metres.
“He was screaming and crying and all bruised, bleeding from the mouth … he didn’t move at all and stayed in the position he was in the whole time after he got hit. He was still conscious too.
“The dad was screaming too. He was really distressed.
“Poor child got hit … we were all trying to call the cops and ambos.”
