A man and a child have been injured after a bull escaped and charged through a line dancing crowd at a rodeo in Kununurra, in East Kimberley, Western Australia.
Social media footage taken at the time showed dozens of people line dancing in the rodeo arena, before the crowd started breaking, and people were seen running and screaming as a bull charged through the arena.
Parents can also be heard loudly calling out to children in the footage.
According to witnesses, rodeo staff and other volunteers raced to control the bull.
St John Ambulance WA told ABC that a man and a young girl were struck down by the bull and taken to Kununurra hospital as a precaution.
Rodeo rider Lance Bedford Jr said he raced into the arena to attempt to control the bull.
“They [the bulls] don’t like to stand too long in the chute … [it] ended up busting through the gate,” Mr Bedford said.
“We all ran out, but luckily they opened the gate and the bull ran straight in and they shut the gate behind him.”
The rodeo, called the Top End Mustering Rodeo, usually marks the end of Ord Valley Muster festival, which runs in Kununurra in May.
The rodeo is described on the Muster website as the largest rodeo in Kimberley and a great day for families.
