Wallabies fullback Tom Wright is poised to miss the rest of the season after he sustained an ACL injury in Australia’s 30-22 loss to South Africa in Cape Town on Sunday.

“Scans have confirmed fullback Tom Wright suffered an ACL injury in last night’s Test against South Africa in Cape Town,” read a Wallabies social media post.

“He will return home with the group (team) to see specialists this week,” the post added.

Wright picked up the injury in only the fourth minute and sums a torrid fortnight of injuries for the Wallabies on tour, according to rugby.com.au.

Scrumhalf Nic White and centre Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii were concussed in the first half of Sunday’s game while prop Taniela Tupou appeared to have dislocated a finger.

Skipper Harry Wilson (knee), James Slipper (concussion) and Dylan Pietsch (broken jaw) were all injured in the Rugby Championship’s opening match in Johannesburg while Ben Donaldson was ruled out before that game.
