As spring morphs into summer, Moreton Bay City Council is expecting its pool season to set another record for visits.
Council says new data shows 1.578 million visits to local pools in the 2024-25 financial year, an increase of 11.28% in two years.
Pools at Albany Creek, Burpengary, North Lakes, Ferny Hills, Lawnton and Settlement Cove (Redcliffe) each had more than 130,000 visits during the last financial year.
And patronage is expected to hit an all-time high with 240 new residents moving into the Bay each week, says council.
Mayor Peter Flannery says these facilities “are rapidly growing in popularity with patronage increasing by more than 160,000 in the past two years alone”.
“Lawnton Swimming Complex had one of the biggest jumps in attendance figures, a reflection of the growing number of young families moving to the area and increased participation in learn-to-swim programs.”
The Settlement Cove Lagoon at Redcliffe also attracted nearly 150,000 visits last financial year.

“We encourage residents to explore our pools make swimming a part of a healthy and active lifestyle over the warmer months.”
Facilities include Olympic-sized lap lanes, water slides, shallow play areas for toddlers, aqua aerobics and swimming lessons.
