Moreton Bay City Council will give the Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch a three-year $12,000 grant to help them run ANZAC Day events.

Council says the sub-branch will also receive in-kind support from them including help in getting permits and approvals, event promotion and beautification activities at service locations.

Daniel Grono, president of the Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch, says the support ensures they can continue to hold ANZAC Day ceremonies.

“Each year we see thousands of community members turn out to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country,” Daniel says.

“Accessing grant funding from council allows us to keep the ANZAC spirit, and the memories of the men, women and animals who served, alive for generations to come.”

‘SIGNIFICANT TO MORETON BAY’

Moreton Bay’s acting Mayor Jodie Shipway says that ANZAC Day services are significant civic events which are of great importance to the city.

“ANZAC Day is an important national occasion in our city and across Australia, commemorating the significant contributions and sacrifices of past and present, service men and women, and their families,” she says.

“Receiving continued funding as part of council’s grant program will enable the Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch to continue to deliver ANZAC Day services to the community with council’s support,” she says.

“It’s one of the most meaningful ways council can help community groups and organisations continue to deliver important events like ANZAC Day services in our city.”

Councillor Jim Moloney says ANZAC Day remains a meaningful day of remembrance for the community.

“Council is proud to support the local RSL so that local families can continue to come together, reflect and ensure the ANZAC spirit lives on in our community,” he says.

In addition to the annual funding, council will apply a 3% increase to the three-year grant in acknowledgement of the rising operational costs that community organisations face.
