Interest from contractors in building the Redcliffe Hospital expansion in Brisbane is now sought by the Queensland Government.
The state government is calling for registrations of interest from contractors to handle the bulk of the work on the hospital.
The closing date to register interest is November 21.
Richard Crookes Construction has already been named contractor for the hospital’s $36 million three-level carpark expansion, which will deliver over 530 new parking spaces.
Work on the car park is due to start in early 2026.
GROWING REDCLIFFE
Health Minister Tim Nicholls claims his government is “delivering a fresh start for Redcliffe”.
“Without our hospital rescue plan and approach to replanning and redesigning the expansion, the community would be missing out on the facility they deserve,” he says.
MP for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley says the expansion work is critical to a community that is growing.
“As someone who used to work at the hospital, I know how important this expansion is for the people of Moreton Bay,” she says.
“Our government is delivering more beds, more parking and more services, to improve the hospital experience for everyone.”
A Moreton Bay City Council local plan for the hospital precinct spells out retail, commercial, residential and community facilities such as medical-related childcare, health care and support services.
HOSPITAL EXPANSION
Key features of hospital expansion include:
- At least 210 new overnight beds (six more than originally promised).
- Expanded services including maternity, endoscopy, and operating theatres.
- A design focused on safety for nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers.
- No impact to a culturally significant tree that remains on site.
- Maximum use of the site for better service.
- Extra car parking to cater to growing demand.
The final masterplan for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion project is due by the end of the year, the government says.
