Samford Parkland’s green park is getting $4.4 million upgrade from council and the federal government.
Residents will be given an events, recreation and social hub while there will be open lawns for gatherings, shaded picnic shelters, a play space for children and accessible walking paths with views of the valley.
Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the sod-turn ceremony is an exciting milestone for the region.
“This is more than just a park upgrade; it’s about creating a space where people can come together and celebrate,” he says.
“The village green will feature open lawns for gatherings and events, barbecue and picnic facilities, play equipment, and landscaped gardens with shade trees.”
SAMFORD WORKS
Public workshops identified preferences for open green spaces, shade trees and devices, pathways as well as design features that separate vehicles and pedestrians, slow-speed zones, lighting, clear lines of sight and keeping views of the mountains.
MP for Dickson Ali France (ALP) says that the project can strengthen community unity.
“Samford is stunning, and the Samford Parklands Village Green Park Upgrade will make it an even better place to bring your family to enjoy the outdoors,” she says.
“The Albanese Government is investing $2.2 million through our Thriving Suburbs Program to make the parklands a space for everyone to appreciate.”
Councillor Ellie Smith says the project reflects the community’s vision for a welcoming and inclusive space.
“Samford Parklands is already a much-loved destination; this new village green will make it even better,” Cr Smith said.
“It’s designed for everyone from families, visitors, and locals to relax, play, and connect within the absolutely stunning backdrop of Samford.”
The $4.4 million project is jointly funded by council and the Federal Thriving Suburbs Program.
Construction is due to be complete by late 2026.
