Melbourne west employment precincts at Ravenhall and Warrawee

The Melbourne west employment precincts will affect residents and workers across the region, particularly in Ravenhall, Truganina/Warrawee and Melton East. The aim is to bring more jobs closer to where thousands of new homes are being built. The process will trial an industry-led approach, with developers working alongside the Victorian Government on parts of the planning.

The three proponents, Boral, Dexus and Pelligra, will fund the planning work and the infrastructure upgrades needed to unlock the land over the long term.

Melton East

The precincts will be supported by Melton East, a new suburb set to deliver:

  • 12,000 homes
  • Seven schools
  • Parks and reserves equivalent to more than five MCGs

Once complete, Melton East is expected to be home to more than 36,000 residents and support around 1,600 jobs.

Other changes in the pipeline

  • Public consultation will give local residents a chance to have their say on the developments.
  • Major upgrades to arterial roads in the area are included, so infrastructure keeps pace with growth.
  • More than 72 hectares of land in the same precinct were recently rezoned for industrial use through the Development Facilitation Program, creating more than 1,000 jobs.

Context

The changes affect residents and workers across Melbourne’s west, particularly in Ravenhall, Truganina/Warrawee and Melton East. The Victorian Government published the announcement on Thursday 22 October 2026.
