Queensland police say investigations are still ongoing into the circumstances around the death of a 59-year-old woman who was found at her Brisbane home.
Officers were called to the Swan Street address around 7:30pm Saturday night after receiving a request for a welfare check. They found the woman unresponsive and emergency services declared her to be deceased at the scene, saying her death was sudden.
A crime scene was immediately established by detectives and an autopsy ordered to determine the cause of death however a police spokesperson told the Courier Mail that “We don’t know when that will come back to us”.
A 42-year-old man began to help police with their enquiries. The Alexandra Hills man has since been charged with one count of contravening a domestic violence order (aggravated offence).
It’s been alleged by police that the man broke his restraining order earlier that Saturday morning and went to the Swan Street address where the 59-year-old woman resided.
He was also charged with two counts of serious assault to police in relation to his arrest on the Sunday morning. The man appeared in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday and is being kept in custody until his next appearance in court on November 22.
Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers and are imploring people to report anyone who is experiencing family or domestic violence.
