A detective has told a Sydney Court that he holds the belief that the foster mother of William Tyrrell knows where the missing boy is located.
The foster mother, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was in court where she is facing accusations that she provided false or misleading evidence to the NSW Crime Commission.
Charges do not relate to the disappearance of William Tyrrell but in regards to her being asked whether she had ever hit another child with a wooden spoon. She denies ever doing this.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Lonergan took to the stand and said, “I have formed the view [she] knows where William Tyrrell is”.
However the woman’s defence Barrister John Stratton SC stated that this was a false belief.
“You are hoping to break her spirit,” he said to which Lonergan said “Our main objective is to find out where William Tyrrell is”.

Police say they had planted several listening devices within the home of the foster mother and they allege recordings revealed that she did hit a child with a wooden spoon.
The child could be heard threatening to call police then was asked to “stand up” three times before being asked by the woman where she had put the wooden spoon.
Following this, police say they could hear the child screaming, crying, and pleading with the mother before several smacking sounds were heard.
Detective Sergeant Scott Jamieson along with Det Sgt Lonergan denied trying to put pressure on the woman in the interview and said they did not lie about knowing where the body of William Tyrrell is located.
“I knew the area in which I believed William was,” Det Sgt Jamieson said.
Both officers say they believe the boy’s body is somewhere in Kendall, where he disappeared on September 12, 2014.
