On Friday, Lisa Marie Presley, 54, died in hospital following a cardiac arrest, and after news broke, celebrities took to social media.
It has since been revealed that Lisa Marie was placed in an induced coma then fitted with a temporary pacemaker after being rushed to hospital.
After her death, her mother Priscilla Presley spoke to People Magazine to confirm her death.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.” Priscilla Presley said.
“She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known.
“We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss.
“Thank you for the love and prayers.
“At this time there will no further comment.” She said.
Celebrities took to social media to express their shock and grief over Lisa Marie’s death, paying tribute to the only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla.
Actress and activist Leah Remini of The King of Queens fame posted to Twitter in response to the news.
“I’m heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley.” Ms Remini said.
“Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think.
“May she be at peace, resting with her son and father now.
“Her mom Priscilla and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper, are in my prayers.” She said.
Singer Leann Rimes also took to Twitter.
“Lisa Marie Presley…how heartbreaking.” Ms Rimes said.
“I hope she is at peace in her dad’s arms.
“My heart goes out to her family.
“Too much grief in just a couple of years.” She said.
Musician and wrestling promoter William Patrick Corgan and long-time friend of Lisa Marie asked for prayers for her family.
“There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow.” Mr Corgan said.
“This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count.
“Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time.
“I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is.” He said.
The extent of the circumstances surrounding Lisa Marie’s death have not been revealed.
Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin died in 2020 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at 27.
Lisa Marie has three daughters, actress Riley Keough, and twin 14-year-olds Finley and Harper Lockwood.
