Spokespeople for Prince Harry has confirmed that Harry and Meghan Markle has been invited to King Charles III’s coronation in May.
However, it has not yet been publicly confirmed if Harry and his wife have accepted the invitation.
The lead up to King Charles’ coronation has been overshadowed in recent months over Harry’s revelations about King Charles, elder brother Prince William, stepmother Camilla and other members of the royal family in his recent memoir, TV interviews and Netflix documentary.
The controversy has led to significant speculation about whether Harry would be invited to the historic event, and whether he would accept an initiation.
“I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” a spokesperson for Harry has told the press.
“An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”
Buckingham Palace is yet to respond to the press regarding Harry’s invitation.
The coronation ceremony for King Charles’ Camilla, Queen Consort, is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at London’s Westminster Abbey.
King Charles has also said he wants his wife to be known as Queen Camilla once he is crowned.
The last time Britain saw the coronation of a monarch was June 2nd, 1953 when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.
The news of Harry’s invitation comes after just last week Harry and Meghan were told to vacate their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, which is within the grounds King Charles’ Windsor Castle estate, which the couple use when in Britain.
Harry and Meghan moved to California in 2020 to distance themselves from the royal family and Britain’s tabloid press. They had also agreed to repay the 2.4 million pounds ($4.2 million) of taxpayer money they had used to renovate the house.
The Sun newspaper report that King Charles’ has offered Frogmore Cottage to his brother, Prince Andrew.
This in turns comes after people close to Andrew told the press that he fears his brother, King Charles, will ask him to vacate his current home, the Royal Lodge, despite only being 19 years into his 75-year lease.
According to The Sun, Andrew is refusing to leave the lodge, and his begging his brother to reconsider.
Andrew was removed from his royal duties by the late Queen Elizabeth, due to the scandal about Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein the late convicted US sex offender.
The housing rumours come after King Charles expressed a desire to cut down on the royal family’s spending.
