This year’s NRL grand finals will be held on Sunday, October 5, at Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
The news was confirmed by National Rugby League CEO Andrew Abdo yesterday (Sunday).
“We are pleased to confirm that Sydney will host the NRL and NRLW grand finals for season 2025,” he says.
Only once, in the COVID-affected 2021 season when it was held in Brisbane, has the grand final not been played in Sydney.
The Penrith Panthers are chasing a fifth straight title, a feat last achieved by St George in the 1950s and 60s.
NSW Premier Chris Minns says his state remains the home of rugby league with “no better place” to host the game.
“The NRL grand final is one of our nation’s greatest annual sporting events. With NSW representing more than half of the clubs across both the NRL and NRLW competitions, this is great news for the thousands of fans who will come together to celebrate in our city,” he says.
Sport and Tourism Minister Steve Kamper says they need to cement Sydney’s legacy as the home of rugby league and build on its reputation.
“As we’ve seen with the Las Vegas effect, rugby league fans from all over Australia and the world will flock to Sydney for the NRL and NRLW grand finals,” he says.
“I can’t wait to see Accor Stadium abuzz with the atmosphere of 82,500 fans on grand final day.”
