Supercars fans will get to meet their favourite drivers in the heart of Ipswich next week as the city continues to count down to the Ipswich Super 440.
Organisers of the Repco Supercars Championship will hold a free fan day in the city’s central Nicholas Street precinct on Thursday, August 7.
> The Supercars Championship will be held at
Queensland Raceway, Willowbank, from August 8-10.
All 26 drivers competing in the final round of the Repco Sprint Cup will attend as will some of the cars and motorcycles.
The event will run from 4.30pm-6.30pm with an autograph session at 5pm. Vehicles will be on show with live entertainment including a driving simulator.
Ipswich City Mayor Teresa Harding says the precinct will come alive with the sight, sounds and smells of Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros.
“Supercars drivers will attend including championship leader Broc Feeney and Will Brown, along with Australian Superbikes riders,” she says.
Ipswich City Councillor Pye Augustine says they have not had the Supercars “on our doorstep since 2019”.
“It is an absolute treat to have the finest motorsports exponents here for this lead-up event then three days of action-packed racing,” Cr Augustine says.
“Supercars bring thousands of visitors to our city, from Queensland and interstate, and they stay right here, investing heavily in our economy. It is the perfect opportunity to showcase what Ipswich has to offer motorsport fans and tourists in general.”
Ipswich Super 440 event manager Matt Gregg says tickets for events are now available online at www.supercars.com
“The free event promises fun for the whole family and is a unique opportunity for fans to meet their favourite drivers and riders before the action begins at Queensland Raceway,” he says.
