The Caboolture Snakes rugby league club is to get a new $14.5 million clubhouse with the tender to build it just awarded by local council.

Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery says the two-step project will also benefit other sports in the area.

“The upgrade will benefit not only Caboolture Rugby League Club but other local sporting groups such as the table tennis and boxing clubs that will use the new facilities,” he says.

“Our residents absolutely love rugby league; the new clubhouse will make rugby league in Caboolture more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.”

The project will involve upgrading infrastructure like water and sewer utilities that will enable any future expansion of the precinct.

“The new facility will also be more inclusive, with a host of features that allow people with disability to stay in the game including accessible public amenities, seating, kitchen facilities and scoring booth,” Flannery says.

“We look forward to construction getting under way on this highly anticipated clubhouse.”

New facilities to be built include offices, change rooms, public amenities, kitchen, canteen and tiered outdoor seating.

The federal government is giving $3 million through its Investing in Our Communities (IiOC) program.

Councillor Adam Hain says the redevelopment of the Caboolture Snakes’ ageing facilities would be a game-changer.

“This major upgrade is set to come to fruition and ignite huge excitement around rugby league in Caboolture,” he says.

“The new facilities will benefit the 2000 local players who use the grounds and also provide a better game day experience for spectators.

“This significant project will transform this community sports facility, with the construction of fully accessible change rooms to ensure our female teams are better catered for, club offices, canteen and gym area.”

Stage one of the project is due for completion in early 2027, while Stage 2 is expected to be finished in mid-2028.
