The Gosford waterfront will undergo a $41 million transformation under the new State Budget starting with one-kilometre boardwalk.

The 4.5 metre wide boardwalk will connect Gosford to Point Clare for pedestrians and cyclists running adjacent to the railway line over Brisbane Water.

The boardwalk is expected to connect Goodaywang Reserve at Point Clare with Grahame Park on the waterfront.

NSW Premier Chris Minns claims “Central Coast residents are lucky to have some of the best waterfront views in the world”.

“Being able to enjoy this natural asset alongside modern, public amenities shouldn’t be restricted to places like Sydney Harbour,” he says.

“We’re getting on with unlocking the potential of the Gosford waterfront so local residents and tourists can make the most of this spectacular area for years to come.”

GOSFORD FEEDBACK

Minister for the Central Coast David Harris says the boardwalk is the result of almost 3500 public submissions made last year when input was sought for the waterfront project.

“The results were clear: the majority want to see more places to walk and cycle,” he says.

Lands and Property Minister Steve Kamper says they want to “transform” the waterfront into a “vibrant” destination.

“A brand new walkway will let families, visitors and locals soak up the views on the journey between Gosford and Point Clare,” he says.

MP for Gosford Liesl Tesch says: “Almost exactly a year ago, I stood alongside our community in launching a petition calling on this project to be delivered and I am thrilled to see this vision become a reality.

“When completed, this pathway will be a popular focal point for our community, where workers, visitors and leisure seekers can enjoy views across the Brisbane Water and the Central Coast.”

The funding follows an earlier $8.5m feasibility study into revitalising the precinct; the government says it can now “unlock” the potential for Gosford’s waterfront.
