Queensland Police have charged a 28-year-old and a 24-year-old over the disappearance and murder of Coopers Plains man Andrew Christopher Walsh.
Mr Walsh was reported missing by his family in January this year but authorities established that he was last seen alive in Slacks Creek November 2021.
The remains of Mr Walsh were discovered encased in concrete at a Coppers Plains transport depot in March.
28-year-old Dewald De Klerk and 24-year-old Joshua Searston were charged with murder and misconduct with a corpse and are expected to face trial on September 26.
Police say they are linked to the business where Mr Walsh’s body was found and it’s expected a NSW man will be charged in relation to the crime.
Four other people were charged with accessory after the fact to murder and misconduct with a corpse prior to yesterday.
Police say that the disappearance of another man, 35-year-old Lachlan James Griffiths is linked to the murder of Mr Walsh.
Mr Griffiths was reported missing on January 26, 2022 and was believed to be living in different hotels around Brisbane, however authorities say they have still been unable to locate him.
Four people have been charged with murder in relation to his disappearance.
Detective Inspector Damien Hansen has urged anyone with information to come forward.
“I would appeal for any person who has knowledge of where Lachlan is to contact Crimestoppers.”
He also noted how difficult this case has been.
“This has been one of the most complex investigations that I’ve been involved in.”
“It has been an enormous amount of work done by our intel, by our investigators, hundreds of lines of inquiry and statements taken both here and interstate.”
Insp Hansen also said that Queensland police will keep looking for Mr Griffiths.
We’re not going to stop and obviously there is provisions like ‘no body, no parole ‘ that we would be looking at as well for those persons charged.
“Again I would just make that appeal: if someone knows, think of his family.”
