Kyle Sandilands revealed the judging line-up for the upcoming season of Australian Idol with local and international talent set to be on the panel.
He made the reveal on radio as part of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, saying that filming will begin next month with himself and three other judges.
The others include eight-time ARIA winner and Gold Coast local Amy Shark along with American Grammy Award winners Harry Connick Jr. and Meghan Trainor.
Harry Connick Jr. tweeted that he’s “so excited to be a judge [and] can’t wait to find Australia’s next big music superstar”.
Joining him in his excitement was Amy Shark who said “Australian Idol Judge INCOMING!! Can’t wait to unearth some serious talent in 2023”.
Meghan Trainor said that she’s “honoured” to be judging after growing up watching the American version of the singing show.
“I can’t wait to sit front row and meet new talent,” she said.
“I haven’t been to Australia since 2015, so I’m really excited to get to see the whole country and basically get to live there.”
Kyle Sandilands who has previously been a judge on the show said that “we all know the stars that came out of Idol” adding further that this is “the big one”.
It was also announced that former contestant Rickie-Lee and presenter Scott Tweedie would be the hosts.
Australian Idol was one of the most watched shows of the early 2000s, bringing many now famous Australian singers into the spotlight including Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian, Anthony Callea, and Casey Donovan.
The Seven Network has said that filming will begin next month with singing talents aged between 15 and 28 encouraged to apply for the show.
It was originally meant to make a comeback this year after more than 10 years off-air but the pandemic pushed it back to 2023.
