Controversial rapper and musician Kanye West has been locked out of Twitter and Instagram for posting antisemitic comments.
Last Saturday, the 45-year-old tweeted “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE”.
He followed the tweet up by saying “The funny things is I actually can’t be anti-Semitic because black people are actually jew also”.
“You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposed your agenda,” he added.
West, who is legally known as Ye, accused rapper Diddy of being controlled by Jewish people earlier in the week.
Both incidents led his Instagram and Twitter to be suspended with the platforms saying his remarks had violated policies on hate speech.
The Anti-Defamation League strongly opposed his comments saying they were “deeply troubling, dangerous, and antisemitic, period”.
“There is no excuse for his propagating of white supremacist slogans and classic antisemitism about Jewish power, especially with the platform he has.”
Joining them in their aversion was actress Jamie Lee Curtis who said that she “woke up and burst into tears” when she saw the comments.
“What are you doing? It’s bad enough that fascism is on the rise around the world, but on Twitter? On a portal to our that in, as if Jewish people haven’t had it hard enough… I mean, it was abhorrent,” she told US Today Show’s Hoda Kotb.
Ye was previously banned from Instagram in March after a similar incident in which Meta representatives said he violated policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment.
This week he tweeted a picture of him and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg saying “Look at this Mark. How you gone kick me off Instagram?”.
