CRICKET Australia has released the Ashes 2025 tour schedule earlier than usual featuring a day-night Test in Brisbane.
The Australia-England Test series dates were announced at Scarborough Beach, Perth, recently with the support of the WA Government.
The Ashes series gets under way with a Test at Perth Stadium from November 21-25, 2025.
That Test will be followed by a day-night game at the Gabba in Brisbane (December 4-8), the Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval (December 17-21), Melbourne’s Boxing Day Test (December 26-30), and Sydney’s New Year’s Test (January 4-8, 2026).
Cricket Australia (CA) says the Ashes dates have been released earlier than usual to allow more time for overseas and interstate fans and says there has already been enormous interest expressed by overseas fans.
CA Executive General Manager for Events and Operations Joel Morrison says the 2025-26 dates are part of their recently released seven-year international schedule.
CA says the scheduling plan will create greater certainty around fixturing and help grow matches and cricket-related events in partnership with governments.
“The history and excitement of the Ashes make it one of world’s most iconic sporting events and we are delighted this fierce and electrifying rivalry will extend over two summers in 2025,” he says.
The rivalry starts with the women’s Ashes this summer (2024-25) with a historic MCG day-night Test and ends with the 2025-26 men’s series.
“We have been inundated with requests from fans around the world wanting to travel to Australia and attend the 2025-26 Ashes series …,” he says.
WA Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism Rita Saffioti says they are “very excited” to be hosting the opening Ashes Test.
“The United Kingdom has consistently been WA’s top visitor market,” he says.
“With the direct flight between London and Perth operating all year-round, it’s even easier for the cricket-mad English to escape their winter and head to Australia for an incredible summer of cricket …”
Cricket Australia’s focus this summer will be on the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series with India.
