A NEW $139 million warehouse estate is to be built as part of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The NSW Government has approved construction of a 19.4 hectare Barings Luddenham Industrial Park which expected to create more than 600 jobs.
Work is due to start in the middle of this year with the first warehouse to open by December 2026.
Warehouse lots will range in size from 1000 square metres up to 30,000 square metres with a total of more than 63,500 square metres of floor area across seven buildings.
Apart from warehouses, there will be an onsite cafe, offices, a road network, landscaping, stormwater work, signage, waterway rehabilitation, car parking and infrastructure.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Western Sydney Prue Car says the 600-plus jobs to be created by this development is “just the beginning of what is to come”.
The government says there is $14 billion worth of private development applications in the pipeline for the aerotropolis that would create 120,000 jobs.
The aerotropolis is one of three metropolitan cities planned for Sydney and it is to link with the other two at Parramatta and eastern harbour.
PLANNING MINISTER
Planning Minister Paul Scully says that with the Western Sydney International Airport taking shape, projects like this one “shows confidence in Western Sydney’s economic future”.
“From construction jobs to long-term roles in logistics and operations, it’s investments like this that are helping to power our state’s growth and prosperity.”
The precinct will create 250 ongoing roles and 390 construction jobs after the recent approval of Bradfield City’s Central Park and opening of the first building.
The state government spent more than $1 billion on kickstarting the Bradfield centre by providing early commercial buildings, infrastructure, and services to unlock billions in private funding to create more than 10,000 new homes and 20,000 new jobs.
