Brisbane Airport is keen to add two more hotels as demand keeps growing and it is inviting hotel operators to submit proposals.

It says its three hotels are now consistently reaching capacity and the new hotels will allow them to cater to growing demand.

A new hotel will be located adjacent to the international terminal, and a new multi-storey carpark while the other will be at its Skygate retail and entertainment precinct.

The Skygate site hotel will sit next to the existing DFO outlet, 16-hectare entertainment hub Lander’s Pocket and speciality stores.

AIRPORT ADVANTAGES

Airport Executive General Manager Commercial Scott Norris says both locations have their own unique advantages.

“Location is everything and it doesn’t get more connected than being at the front door of Queensland’s busiest gateway,” he says.

“Brisbane Airport’s three current airport hotels are consistently at capacity so there is no doubt there is demand for additional hotel rooms.

“Long-term, Brisbane requires thousands of new hotel rooms ahead of the 2032 Olympics and so we’re highly confident the airport can support five hotels,” Norris says.

“With Brisbane Airport a hub, every night there are hundreds of people transiting through Brisbane Airport before making connections across the state, or around the world.

“Brisbane Airport links to more domestic destinations than anywhere else in Australia allowing operators to tap into built-in, year-round demand that provides long-term value.”

The airport has road and rail access to the CBD, port, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions.

MALAYSIAN SERVICES

The airport also says Malaysia Airlines will progressively increase its Brisbane services with six weekly flights from August 16 then ramping up to daily services from October 25.

The decision follows the resumption of its Brisbane route on November 20, 2025; the airline currently operates five weekly non-stop services.

The airline will operate its latest-generation A330neo aircraft on the route.

The airline’s Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business Bryan Foong says they have recorded load factors close to 90% since their service resumed.

“The increase in capacity, alongside the deployment of our A330neo aircraft, reflects our continued efforts to … reinforce Kuala Lumpur’s role as a strategic gateway,” he says.
