Australia ripped through India’s tail to wrap up the second Test with a thumping 10-wicket victory in just three days at Adelaide Oval yesterday (Sunday).
A Cricket Australia report highlighted captain Pat Cummins’ five-wicket haul and player of the match Travis Head’s century.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is now one Test apiece after India won the first Test in Perth by 295 runs.
Australia needed just two days and a solitary session to bounce back as both sides head to Brisbane for the third Test, starting this Saturday.
Yesterday, India resumed at 5-128 in the afternoon, trailing by just 29 runs but their run chase was derailed as they lost their last five wickets for 47 runs in 12-5 overs.
Australia’s opening batsmen Nathan McSweeney (10no) and Usman Khawaja (9no) needed just 14 minutes and 3.2 overs to post the 19 runs needed for victory.
Cricket Australia says Sunday’s crowd for the shortened Test took the Test crowd total beyond 135,00, a record for an Australia-India Test at Adelaide Oval.
“A great week. This is back to how we want to play,” Cummins said afterwards team has copped plenty of media criticism after the first Test loss.
“We have some really good memories there,” Indian captain Rohit Sharma said as he lamented some missed chances.
WOMEN
In the Australian-India one-day series, Georgia Voll hit her maiden ton to set up a 122-run victory for Australia in Brisbane yesterday.
Australia’s newest player combined with their most experienced, Ellyse Perry, in just her second ODI.
Perry smashed a record six sixes on her way to a third one-day centenary as well.
Their twin tons, combined with half-centuries from Phoebe Litchfield (60 off 63) and Beth Mooney (56 off 44), steered Australia to 8-371, their third highest total ever.
India fell well short of the mark to finish on 9-249 after 44.5 overs.
Australia now have a 2-0 lead in the three-game series with the third game to be played at the WACA this Wednesday.
