Two of the voices behind the iconic Aussie kids show Bluey, have met for the first time in the US ahead of an appearance on Jimmy Fallon.
Melanie Zanetti, the voice of Chilli, and David McCormack, the voice of Bandit, stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon ahead of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade where a giant inflatable Bluey will fly above Manhattan.
The two stars admitted on the show they met for the first time just two days before their appearance.
“We record separately, we live in different cities and I travel a lot for work, so this is the first time. It was wild,” said Zanetti.
“I thought it would be all of us sitting around a table, you know like in the movies when they’re making a TV show, and everyone’s sitting around a table with coffee and salads and rolls and stuff,” McCormack added.
“But we’re just isolated in our [recording] booths.”
Jimmy Fallon told the pair how much of a fan he is of the show that has become a global hit and watched over hundreds of millions of times.
“It’s the best show on TV right now,” Fallon said.
“It’s so funny, it’s clever, it’s a game changer … the kids aren’t even watching. It’s just me.”
Bluey made its debut on ABC Kids in 2018 and is produced by Queensland-based company Ludo Studio. It follows the life of an energetic and imaginative six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who goes on daily adventures with her family in Brisbane.
The kids show has not only being embraced by children but also parents alike with many claiming it’s one of the best animated kids programs currently out
“The warmth and authenticity of Bluey’s family dynamic is what first captured our interest in the show,” said Senior VP of Disney Channels Jane Gould, who acquired the rights to show Bluey on Disney+.
“Bluey reminds us all of our own families, and it plays out the small but emotionally epic dramas of day-to-day life in surprising, heartfelt and very funny ways that will engage children and parents alike.”
Hollywood star Eva Mendes has praised the Aussie made show saying, “Bluey is huge in our house”.
“It’s really beautiful, I really love Bluey. They get kind of this crazy energy afterwards and they play tricks on us. They really love the frozen statue thing. But they love Bluey and we love Bluey and we watch it a lot,” she said.
