State of Origin will be returning to Perth next year after the NRL announced the full men’s and women’s fixtures on Monday.
In the men’s games, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium hosts Origin 1 on Wednesday, May 28, Origin 2 heads to Perth’s Optus Stadium on Wednesday, June 18, and Sydney hosts Origin 3 on Wednesday, July 9.
In the women’s games, all three games will be played during May 2025.
Queensland hosts the first game at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday, May 1, before NSW hosts Origin 2 in Sydney on May 15 and Origin 3 at Newcastle on May 29.
The Under-19s boys and girls Origin matches games will be played at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Thursday, June 19.
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo says the Origin schedule will prove popular with fans.
“The 2024 Origin series was one for the ages,” he says.
“The greatest rivalry in Australian sport returns to Brisbane, Perth and Sydney for the men’s series and the Sunshine Coast for the first time for the Under 19s matches.”
Abdo says the 2024 series was “a landmark year” for women’s Origin with record crowds and television audiences for their first three-game series.
“The Under 19s matches unearthed several NRL and NRLW stars,” he says.
“We are seeing huge interest from players, player agents and talent scouts from clubs to see the next generation of Blues, Sky Blues and Maroons make their mark.”
WESTERN FIXTURE
WA Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman says Origin has a passionate fan base in Western Australia.
“After phenomenal results when we hosted State of Origin games in 2019 and 2022, WA has proven that this epic showdown between the Blues and Maroons will always be met with a packed stadium …” he says.
The WA government says previous matches, in 2019 and 2022, both attracted crowds of close to 60,000; the 2022 match generated $13.3 million for the local economy from the nearly 7000 interstate fans who attended.
The government says Perth will host an Origin match again in 2028.
Pre-sale tickets for NSWRL and QRL members have been on sale since Monday. Tickets are due to go on sale this Friday.
