The Australian women’s cricket teams will take on India in an all-format series around the country which finishes with a Test at the WACA in Perth early next year.
Australia will meet India in a three-game T20 series, three-game ODI series and a Test.
Games will be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth.
The WACA is expanding into a 10,000-seat venue and due to be finished later this year, according to Cricket Australia (CA).
The India series is Australian women’s only inbound tour next summer but in mid-September next year, they head to India for a three-game ODI series ahead of the ODI World Cup (also in India) from October to November and the T20 World Cup in England.
The 11th Women’s Big Bash League follows after that but in early December many of Australia’s top players will return to India after Christmas for the Women’s Premier League.
Once a home Test against India at the WACA wraps up on March 9, the Aussie women will head to the Caribbean for a multi-format series across March and April and include a Test.
In an interview with cricket.com.au recently, Australian quick Megan Schutt says the schedule should set the bar for venues and crowds.
“I think we’ve shown we can do it, especially against your bigger nations, your top three … they’ve set the example of what they can do and what’s achievable,” she says.
“An Ashes series is its own entity but there’s a big Indian fan base in this country.
“I think now they’ve got no excuse but to put us in in the good stadiums again and back that people are going to want to turn up and watch what is one of the biggest rivalries across men’s and women’s cricket.”
