Earlier this week, DOJ and FBI investigators found six more classified documents in President Joe Biden’s Delaware home.
The documents are the third set of documents found from President Biden’s time as Vice President with Barack Obama, but some also date back to his time as senator.
The first set of documents were found at the President’s office at the Penn Biden Center, while the second and third sets were found at his home.
President Biden said the documents were filed incorrectly at his home and office.
“We found a handful of documents were files in the wrong place.” President Biden said.
“We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department.
“I think you’re going to find there’s nothing there.” He said.
President Biden has been on record stating he has “no regrets” about not disclosing the discovery of some of the files prior to the midterm elections in November.
White House lawyer Richard Sauber said the President is committed to ensuring the situation is handled correctly and by the book.
“Since the beginning, the president has been committed to handling this responsibly because he takes this seriously.” Mr Sauber said.
“The President’s lawyers and White House Counsel’s Office will continue to cooperate with DOJ and the Special Counsel to help ensure this process is conducted swiftly and efficiently.” He said.
In an interview with Sky News Australia, former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said President Biden, while he is cooperating, is starting to get worn down by the scandal.
“You can tell he’s getting shorter with the press, he’s snapping at people.” Mr Mulvaney said.
“This has been a slow drip…it’s that drip, drip, drip of information that is really starting to erode not only the President’s, sort of, confidence, but his staff operations as well.” He said.
The President has been criticised by both sides of the political aisle about his handling of the information.
News of the first round of documents being found only broke after the midterm elections, while the documents were found on November 2, 2022.
President Biden’s personal lawyer Bob Bauer said various handwritten notes, files, papers, schedules, reminders, and other material were taken by federal authorities as per the scope of the investigation.
