Queensland police have charged a man after he set several cars on fire in Surfers Paradise late last night.
The 33-year-old reportedly set five cars alight between 10:45pm and 11:55pm on Tuesday night, with two damaged in Hamilton Avenue, two in River Terrace and a fifth one on Vista Street.
The man from Ormeau was arrested in Thornton Street, where officers were able to track him down using CCTV footage from the Gold Coast City Council.
According to officers he has been charged with five counts of willful damage and one count of breaching bail.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today with police urging anyone to come forward with additional information to help their ongoing investigation.

The Gold Coast wasn’t the only place in Queensland to see deliberate car fires in the past 24 hours.
In the early hours this morning, three cars were set alight in Townsville with police on the hunt for three male suspects in relation to the fires.
Police report several tiple-0 calls were made after people witnessed the three men setting cars alight.
An abandoned Subaru was ablaze in the middle of the street around 5am Wednesday morning before firefighters extinguished the flames, according to The Herald Sun.
Two other car fires happened at 4:35 am and 5:20 am.
