The Bafta TV awards have closed in London, with even the late Queen Elizabeth II receiving recognition during the prestigious British awards ceremony.
The late Queen’s skit with Paddington Bear winning the most memorable moment award — the only award voted on by the public. Kate Winslet (Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic) earned the Leading actress Bafta for her role in I Am Ruth. Ben Wishaw, won the Leading actor Bafta for his role in the medical comedy-drama This Is Going To Hurt. Winshaw is best known internationally for his role as Q in the Daniel Craig led James Bond films.
Meera Sytal (Yesterday, Doctor Strange) earned a lifetime achievement award. During her acceptance speech, she thanked Bafta for “seeing us” in relation to diverse representation at the awards show, saying the TV industry needs more diversity “not just in front of the camera but in the writers’ rooms, in makeup vans and around tables where deals are done.”
