Her Majesty’s coffin has arrived at Buckingham Palace following a journey from Edinburgh to London where her family will now pay their respects privately.
The Queen’s hearse made its ways through the streets of London, guided by the lights of thousands of mourners who came to see Her Majesty arrive at Buckingham Palace one final time.
King Charles III along with his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew and other royal family members met the hearse.
Princess Anne accompanied her mother’s coffin on its journey from Edinburgh back to London and released a statement that expressed her gratitude for being close by at the time of The Queen’s death.
“I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys,” she said.
“Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.”

Her Majesty’s coffin will spend the night in the Bow Room at the Palace where her family can say a private goodbye.
On Wednesday her body will be taken to Westminster Hall by a procession with the King’s Troop and Royal Horse Artillery where she will lie in state for four days.
It’s expected some 750,000 people will pay their respects with London MP Victor Chamberlain detailing that the queue could be at its peak, 7-8km away from Westminster Hall.
“We are writing to you today because the queue, which is already starting to form in Lambeth and will be active 24 hours a day, is likely to extend past your home, and may be in place for several days.
Before reaching London, The Queen’s coffin lied in state for several days at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh where some 33,000 people came and offered their respects said the Scottish government.
Her funeral will be broadcast on September 19 at 8pm AEST on ABC in Australia.
