There’s a special passenger coming to south-east Qld’s rail network and he looks very familiar.
As of this Monday, and running all the way to Friday, a jolly man in a red suit and his elves are riding the ‘Santa Express’ across the network.
Queensland Rail says there will be plenty of chances to snap a photo with Santa and candy canes for all.
Qld Rail Head of SEQ Neil Backer says: “If you’re catching the train, you might just spot a very special visitor who’s travelled all the way from the North Pole.
“We love sharing the festive cheer and we know the Santa Express, which has been running for more than a decade now, is a much-loved tradition for many of our customers,” he explains.
“The Santa Express will operate on a different line each day and stopping at several stations, meaning children can give him their Christmas wish list in person.
“To stay on the nice list, make sure you tap on and off with a valid go card, or use a credit/debit card or device, as normal 50 cent fares apply.”
On Monday, the Santa Express runs on the Ferny Grove and Caboolture lines; on Tuesday, it’s the Redcliffe and Shorncliffe lines, Wednesday it’s Ipswich and Springfield Central’s turn, Thursday is the Cleveland line’s turn and on Friday it’s the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines’ turn.
The Salvation Army band will ring in Christmas cheer to Central station with carols to be played from 7am-8.30am Monday to Friday next week.
