A teenage girl has been charged after she allegedly ran over an elderly man following an armed robbery on the Gold Coast last month.
Queensland police said that on August 23 at 1:30pm two males broke into a property in Mermaid Waters while carrying a knife. The 16-year-old girl was waiting in a stolen car out the front.
Police were on their way to the property when the men were confronted by a 44-year-old resident and his 72-year-old father who was then run over by the girl as she tried to flee the scene.
He sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital, while the police took the two robbers into custody.
Detectives say that although the elderly man was discharged from hospital he is still suffering complications as a result of his injuries.
The 16-year-old was arrested by officers overnight at Mudgeeraba.
She was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing Grievous Bodily Harm (BGH) and left scene without obtaining help, enter dwelling with intent, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery earlier in the month with an 18-year-old man also charged with the same offences plus possession of a knife in a public place.
