There’s no horsing around when it comes to work but Visit Iceland has launched a campaign that gets a bunch of local horses to type out a response to those pesky work emails.
Going on a holiday, you expect to be left alone and given plenty of time to enjoy yourself but sometimes work will still try to get a hold of you. However, don’t worry about replying because Iceland will get one of their expert and highly professional horses to type “an out of office” reply.
The initiative is called “Out Horse Your Email” and was launched by Visit Iceland.
It sounds insane but developers actually built a giant keyboard which they trained the horses to walk across. Now it’s obvious that these replies will not be legible or generally make sense, but the efforts there, from the three Icelandic horses, who are considered to be some of the most purebred in the world.
Listed below are the mares and what they’re good at.
Litla Stjarna Fra Hvitarholti – “types fast, but might take a nap”.
Hrimnir Fra Hvammi- “Assertive, efficient and shiny hair”.
Hekla Fra ÞORKELLSHÓLI – “Friendly, trained in corporate buzzwords”.
Head of Visit Iceland, Sigríður Dögg Guðmundsdóttir said that it’s a great way to help people disconnect and provide a little humour.
“Our OutHorse Your Email service lets them do just that, taking away the pressure of feeling as if they have to be always on and instead allowing them to be present throughout their trip. With our world-first service we hope to encourage people to disconnect and take a well-deserved, uninterrupted break.”
Adding to that was Project Manager of Horses of Iceland, Jelena Ohm who said, “from curiosity, intelligence and independence, our horses are special for many reasons, and so now we can add email responders too.”
Visit Iceland’s research suggest that 41 per cent of people check their at least once daily while there are on holiday, while 14 per cent check it five to six times a day.
