Iconic singer and actress Madonna has become the first woman to have an album on the Billboard 200 chart in the top 10 since the 80s.
Billboard made the announcement earlier in the week after the singer’s latest album Finally Enough Love debuted on the chart at No. 8.
It means that the 64-year-old has chartered within the top ten in the 80s, 90s, 00s,10s and 20s.
Her first came with her debut album entitled Madonna in 1983 which was followed in that decade by Like a Virgin, True Blue, Like a Prayer and the Who’s That Girl soundtrack.
In the 90s she had seven top ten albums that included Erotica, Bedtime Stories and music from the Evita soundtrack while the 00s saw hits like American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor and Hard Candy.
For the 10s hits like Rebel Heart and Madame X debuted high in the charts.
She’s become only the tenth person in history to claim this title among other acts like AD/DC Paul McCartney, Prince, James Taylor, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Speaking on her new album to Harper’s Bizarre, she revealed the inspiration behind her latest hit album.
“I named this record ‘Finally Enough Love’ because at the end of the day, love is what makes the world go round,” she said.
“It also is representative of one of my biggest loves in life, which is dance. I love to dance, and I love to inspire people to dance, so with 50 number one dance hits, that is a lot of love to share.”
She added more when speaking with V Magazine, saying that this new album brought back many memories.
“I realized how hard I’ve worked, and what an adventurous musical life I’ve led! Most importantly, it made me realize how meaningful dance music has always been to me.
“It’s so different from the early ‘80s up until now. The music from the ‘80s has a naivety to it and a simplicity which I love and I miss.
“But then we have this new awesome technology at our fingertips and we can make synths sound like a voice, and a voice sound like a percussionist instrument or violins.”
