The Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued a recall of their papaw products saying there is a microbial contamination in some of their batches.
15g, 75g and 200g sizes have been affected by the contamination with the TGA saying if you have one of these products and its batch number is parallel to the list, to immediately stop using the ointment.
Check out the 11 affected batch numbers below.
They suggest taking the ointment back to the place of purchase for a refund or to contact customer services at Lucas’ Papaw Remedies.
Several microorganisms were discovered in the ointments including Aspergillus tubingensis, Sordaria humana, Penicillium paneum and Paenibacillus glucanolyticus.
“These moulds and bacteria pose minimal risk to the general population. There is a remote risk that individuals who are immunocompromised could become ill if they are exposed to these organisms,” said the TGA.
Lucas’ Papaw Remedies have said that no other batches or products have been contaminated and have apologised for the inconvenience it has caused customers.
