Queensland Police have charged a Frenchville man with murder after a woman was found dead at her home in Allenstown yesterday afternoon.
Authorities were called to the residence in West Street at 3:50pm on Sunday afternoon where they located the body of a woman in her 70s.
A crime scene was immediately established with investigators claiming that circumstances around her death are suspicious.
The 35-year-old man was speaking with police yesterday where he was taken into custody. This morning he was charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence).
It’s been alleged by investigators that the man and woman were known to each other and a homicide investigation has been opened under Operation Uniform Acca.
The Morning Bulletin- Rockhampton’s local newspaper- is reporting the 35-year-old to be Portmoresbey (Bj) Cecil, although this information has yet to be confirmed by authorities.
The publication alleges that Mr Cecil drove himself to Rockhampton Police Station following the supposed murder.
He is due to face court today.
